I co-designed HP Superdome while still a contractor at HP. I created the signature split level look, the custom branding and created the 2D CAD for output to tooling.

The real challenge for this project was creating a design that was an evolution of the then current server design language while maximizing airflow needs for the unprecedented computing power for Superdome which was huge.

The image to the left was the original color scheme in keeping with the current server language.

Superdome is HP’s flagship supercomputer and was in production for over 10 years. It was ranked No.1 UNIX server by Gartner, Inc. for 3 years. in a row.

The color scheme was changed in around 2007 and carried over nicely without any need to change the form or the branding, although I think the branding could have benifitted from an update.
